| Basal squamules persistent or evanescent, 2–4 mm long, 1–2 mm diam., laciniate to palmate, esorediate. Podetia 2–8, rarely to 10 cm tall, 0.5–1.5 mm diam., growing from basal squamules or dying at base, simple, esorediate, rarely with squamules, scyphiferous, greyish green; cortex continuous to subwarted; scyphi central, rarely marginal, broad, rarely with squamules on margins. Apothecia on margins of scyphi, 1–2 mm diam., convex, dark brown; rare in Australian specimens. CHEMISTRY: K+ weak yellow or K-, KC-, P+ red. Fumarprotocetraric (major) and protocetraric (trace) acids and atranorin (major). | ||
